Bet that got your attention, huh?  :)  So, what's my confession?  I'm a Christmas music junkie.  I have a HUGE selection of Christmas tunes that I listen to throughout the year.  I know, I know... that's not much of a confession.

But, if you have a special place in your heart for Christmas tunes, I've got just the thing to make your little heart happy.  Rebecca Morse will be performing tonight at If Only, Fairbanks finest literary supply boutique, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on an antique Estey pump organ.  There's no charge for admission and it's sure to be a wonderful performance.  From their website.... "We’ll also serve refreshments representative of our Specialty Foods Selection."

If Only is one of Kathy's favorite stores with a fantastic selection of writing implements, stationary, cards, stamps, journals, jewelry, fabric, clothing and more.  Think a slightly scaled down version of Levenger.  Kill two birds with one stone... come listen to Rebecca and get some last minute Christmas shopping done!  If Only is located on North Cushman Street between 2nd & 3rd Avenue.  See you there!

It seems as though the President is now behind a bailout, er, loans for GM and Chrysler.  Wonderful.  Don't get me wrong, it's not that I want to see either one go out of business, but it wouldn't hurt if they were at least somewhat market conscious.

Granted the economic climate changed rather quickly and retooling auto plants isn't easy or inexpensive, but the automakers been mired in problems for a long time... the run up in gas prices and waining of the public desire for a Hummer in every garage simply exacerbated their financial woes.

I'm not opposed to offering a lifeline to the automakers... far from it. I have no desire to see them disappear from the American landscape.  What I find offensive is the offering of funds BEFORE any restructuring plans have been put forth.

According to the WSJ this morning the companies' have to show they are financially viable by March 31st or the loans will be called and the funds must be returned.  Truly?  So, we give money to near (some would say completely) insolvent entities but don't require them to at least show how they intend to repay the debt?

This sounds vaguely familiar, doesn't it? 

Extrordinary times call for extrordinary measures, but when in the hell did prudence go the way of the dodo bird?  What say you?
